HP EliteBook 840 G2 Review

HP EliteBook 840 G2 on Amazon

The HP EliteBook 840 G2 is a great business laptop that should meet the needs of most office users.  It has a decent keyboard, not Lenovo quality but good enough.  The fingerprint reader actually works pretty well compared to laptops I’ve used in the past.  The 14″ screen is a perfect size  at 1600×900 resolution to do work on it such as using Outlook full email client, Excel, Word, and general web browsing however I did wish the screen was a little brighter.  The screen does suffer however from having bad viewing angles if you are off to the side of the screen and not looking at it directly.  The top cover is a fingerprint magnet unfortunately, but on the other hand it provides good grip.  The laptop is very user serviceable as the bottom cover easily slides off after unlocking and then pressing a button to slide the cover out.  Battery, hard drive, and memory can be easily replaced or upgraded.  The laptop comes with a Kensington lock for locking down the laptop.  The laptop has plenty of I/O ports to fit the needs of most people.  Has a VGA video output port which is useful in a business environment.  There are a total of 4 USB 3.0 ports for connecting external devices such as keyboard, mouse, and printer.  It also has ethernet, displayport, 3.5mm audio jack, smart card reader, sd card reader, and a docking port connector.  The builtin speakers are not very good, they are high on treble, but not very good when it comes to mids and bass.  In conclusion this laptop is great for productivity and doing work on it with a decent keyboard and trackpad, while servicing the laptop is made easy with the removable bottom cover.
