Sennheiser HD 820 Headphones Hands On First Impressions from CES 2018

At CES 2018 I had the opportunity to get my hands on the Sennheiser HD 820 Audiophile headphones and take a first look ahead of their release later this Summer 2018. The build quality on these headphones are superb and the gorilla glass transducer side covers give these headphones a very distinctive look. The headphones are quite big, but at the same time they are quite comfortable with their microfiber earpads surrounded by a synthetic leather material. As far as sound goes the mids and highs sounded very good, however these headphones did not produce much sound in the low end. These headphones are very expensive at $2,399.95 and if you pair them with the suggested Sennheiser HDV-820 Amplifier that also cost $2,399.95 you are looking at almost a $5,000 investment. It was hard for me to get excited with these headphones as I was expecting these to have a nice punchy bass since these are closed-back headphones, but they were lacking in this area. I was way more excited about the Senheiser HD660S headphones as those had a sound signature typical to what I enjoy with nice deep clean bass. These headphones might work for those that are looking for a very particular sound signature, but at this price range you are probably better looking at other headphones that provide a bit more bass on the low end.
